Alessandra Carcaterra Messing (she/they) is a dedicated litigator and advocate who leverages their extensive experience resolving complex matters to achieve equitable and effective outcomes for clients. With almost fifteen years of high-tech, federal and state court litigation experience, Alessandra has zealously represented a diverse clientele in more than one hundred intellectual property disputes across the United States. They have also achieved outstanding results for their clients in connection with commercial and civil litigation, alternative dispute resolution, and business and IP counseling.

Alessandra represents clients in a wide variety of industries, including AI, automotive, pharmaceuticals, software, hardware, fashion, art, and entertainment. Their technical background and unique skill set enables them to provide innovative solutions tailored to each client’s specific needs. Alessandra’s dispute resolution expertise spans negotiation, mediation, investigations, strategy, case management, and all aspects of litigation, including trial and appeal. They have been recognized as a “New York Metro Rising Star” from 2017-2022 and a “New York Metro Super Lawyer” for 2023-2024 by Thomson Reuters. Prior to becoming Messing Law’s Managing Shareholder, Alessandra practiced law at a prestigious Am Law 200 firms.
In addition to their legal practice, Alessandra is deeply committed to pro bono work and social justice advocacy. Alessandra spearheaded a pro bono partnership between a globally recognized law firm and the Sylvia Rivera Law Project focused on providing crucial gender affirming legal services. She also represented SRLP in negotiating a cause marketing deal with Reebok for its 2021 Pride collection. In 2020, Alessandra was recognized with the Elizabeth A. Ritvo Equity and Inclusion award for her “commitment and exceptional contributions in furtherance of equity, inclusion, and diversity.” Recent pro bono advocacy work includes representing clients facing discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation, advising a non-profit whose mission is to support and uplift the TGNCI community in relation to a fundraising event, and counseling artists and creatives in protection and enforcement of their intellectual property rights.
To support fair and equal access to justice and legal representation for all, Messing Law offers special fee arrangements to clients that self-identify as members of the BIPOC, TGNCI, and LGBTQ+ communities, as well as other deserving clients in need. • GRIT BXING LLC v. SweatWorks LLC, No. 655268/2024 (N.Y. Sup. Ct.) / GRIT BXING at HOME, Inc. v. SweatWorks LLC, No. 655267/2024 (N.Y. Sup. Ct.), represents defendant/counter-plaintiff in enforcement of prior judgment and defending meritless claims of unfair competition, unjust enrichment, false and deceptive advertising, and business disparagement.
• Regal Games LLC v. SellerX GmbH et al., No. 1.24-cv-4337-VSB (S.D.N.Y.), represents plaintiff in bringing claims of trademark infringement, counterfeiting, false designation of origin, and unfair competition against Berlin-based Amazon aggregator.
• Regal Games LLC v. SellerX Eight GmbH d/b/a SellerX, No. 1:22-cv-7455 (S.D.N.Y.), represents plaintiff in breach of contract claims predicated upon defendant’s willful neglect of obligations under an asset purchase agreement.
• Represented the Sylvia Rivera Law Project in negotiating a cause marketing agreement with Reebok for the Club C Revenge Pride collection 2021.
• Represented a software R&D company asserting patent infringement claims directed to audio signal processing and speech recognition technologies against Amazon for the Echo devices that led to a successful trial verdict.
• Represented inventor of automotive audio/video device integration systems in bringing series of patent infringement cases against BMW, Honda, Mazda, Daimler, Subaru, Jaguar/Land Rover, Mitsubishi, Volvo, and Hyundai/Kia resulting in favorable settlements.
• Represented inventor of military and first responder communication systems that provide data interoperability in a series of patent infringement matters related to location tracking technologies adverse to Apple, Google, Waze, LG, ZTE, HTC, and Huawei resulting in favorable settlements.
• Defended Puma against patent infringement claims brought by Nike.
• Defended Robert Bosch Tool Corp. in ITC proceeding related to patents claiming injury mitigation technologies for table saws.
• Defended The Gap, Inc. in ITC proceeding related to patents claiming laser abrasion technologies for denim garments.
• Represented Robert Bosch GmbH in successful patent enforcement campaign before the ITC and district courts asserting infringement of patents directed to innovative beam-type wiper blade designs and technologies.
